Graduating in 2007 from the University of the West of England with BSc. Creative Product Design, a well-rounded course covering immersive research, brand positioning, conceptual exploration and design development, along with study in material properties, principles of mechanical engineering and methods of manufacture.

Charlie moved to Sydney in 2014 to join Vert Design, a company he felt passionate about. Vert Design is an environmentally responsible industrial design house with comprehensive technical expertise, a global manufacturing network, strong industry relationships and a visionary attitude towards opportunity and change.

Clients range from independents and entrepreneurs to home-grown Australian brands to transnational organisations, including Schneider Electric, Surf Hardware International, Hassell Studio, Original Mineral, Rebel Sport, Country Road, Deus Ex Machina and Transport for New South Wales, across categories including street furniture, hospitality, textiles and soft goods, wearable tech, housings and hardware, consumer goods and sports equipment.

With 16 years of committed consultancy experience, Charlie has had the privilege of working across disciplines alongside many talented creative contributors, design thinkers and leaders, evolving knowledge and methodologies with a balance of big-picture and detail.

Charlie considers design as a means to embody intangible emotional, aspirational and philosophical entities within the physical. His work considers how objects can add meaning and connection to our experiences with products and environments on both individual and collective levels.

A few successful projects Charlie has led or been involved with have received international recognition from independent channels and awarding bodies, including Good Design Awards, A’ Design Awards, The Dieline Awards, Pentawards, IoM3 Starpack Awards, Yanko Design and Wallpaper*.

Charlie’s practice is underpinned by the limitless potential for ecological progression, with design solutions considering people, planet and business with equal weight, demonstrating that the most sustainable solution can be the most attractive and profitable option for companies developing new products for today and into the future - reframing perceptions of circularity and reducing consumption from obstacles to opportunities.
